New Construction in Minnesota Relies on Rental Make Up Air Heaters to Maintain Schedule During Winter

Minnesota -During construction of a multi-story facility underway, the job site Superintendent of the project knew that winter would either make or break the project schedule. Protecting their schedule and managing the interior conditions during the winter. The idea was that if they could manage their budget and have temporary heating installed, it may work out.

Options for Heater Rentals – The contractor had previous experience with renting heaters, so they knew that different equipment types, fuelling options and factors existed, as well as which types of heaters may not be in the budget. Powering the heaters was a concern, especially given that power was at a premium on the job site. After reaching out to CHI / REIC Specialty, the contractor was worried about the costs of fuel, especially daily deliveries and the inherent safety risks and traffic on the job site.

Heater Solution Determined – After discussions between the Superintendent and CHI / REIC, the heating solution was to install high BTU make-up air heaters, powered by natural gas. The natural gas could be provided through the permanent meter on site, which was arranged through the local gas company to be installed in time for the heater arrivals. This coordination was a large cost savings for the contractor and saved fuel delivery logistics.

A Warm Winter on the Job with a Happy Contractor – The Makeup Air heaters remained on the job site all winter, easily delivering heating to the several floors of the project during a cold winter in Minnesota. The Superintendent reported no delays from the cold weather outside and expressed their satisfaction with all facets of the heater rental. In fact, considering the success of evaluating, sizing, and creatively offering many solutions for the project (including the fuelling solution), the Superintendent is looking to CHI / REIC to offer a climate control solution for the warmer months during
the finishing stages of the project.
